What's Your Opener Doing?

Remote Stopped Working

Battery, or a remote that needs reprogramming to the opener.

Wall Button Dead Too

Then it’s usually the logic board or the wiring, not the remote.

Door Reverses Partway

Safety sensors near the floor, out of line or blocked.

Grinding or Straining

Stripped gears, a worn motor, or an opener undersized for the door.

Loud Every Morning

An old chain drive. A belt-drive or wall-mount runs far quieter.

Want Phone Control

Smart openers let you check and close the door from anywhere.

What an Opener Costs

Type Drives the Price

A standard belt-drive is one number. Wall-mount and smart units run more.

Sized to the Door

A heavy insulated or wide door needs more pull than a light single.

Installed Price, Up Front

Includes setup, remotes, keypad, and hauling off the old unit.

QUIETER, SMARTER, RELIABLE

Upgrade the opener, not the whole door.

Most openers can be repaired. When replacement is the smarter call, we’ll tell you why.

Garage Door Opener Questions

Why is my garage door remote not working?

Start with the battery. If the wall button still opens the door but the remote doesn’t, it’s usually the remote battery or a remote that needs reprogramming to the opener. If nothing works, the opener’s logic board or wiring may be the problem. A tech can pin it down quickly.

It depends on the type. A standard belt-drive opener costs less than a wall-mount or a smart opener with a camera, plus keypad and remote setup. We quote the installed price up front, including removing and recycling the old unit.

A well-installed opener sized correctly for the door typically lasts on the order of ten to fifteen years with light maintenance. Openers that are undersized for a heavy door, or run dozens of times a day, wear out sooner. We size the opener to the door so it isn’t straining every cycle.

For most homes, a belt-drive LiftMaster or Chamberlain is the sweet spot, quiet and reliable. A wall-mount unit is worth it if you want the ceiling clear and the lowest vibration, especially under a room over the garage. We recommend by how you use the garage, not by what’s most expensive.

Often, yes. Many recent openers accept a Wi-Fi add-on, and if yours does not, a new smart opener gives you phone control, alerts, and a camera option. We will tell you which path fits your unit.

Usually. A belt-drive or wall-mount opener runs much quieter than an older chain drive, and worn rollers and dry hinges add most of the racket. We will tell you whether it is the opener or the hardware.

Yes. A battery backup opener keeps the door working during a power outage, which matters when the garage is the only way in or out. Many current LiftMaster and Chamberlain models include it.

The steps vary by brand and model. We set up and test every remote and keypad on an install, and if yours stopped working we can reprogram it or replace it during a service call.
